The FCC would receive funding of about $280.8 million in fiscal 2004 under President Bush’s proposed budget. This compares to a budget authority of $268.3 million in the president’s budget for FY2003.
The proposal includes $6.1 million for more staff and programming initiatives, and $6.37 million for cost increases for salaries and benefits and inflationary costs such as office space and supplies.
Fees would offset 90 percent of the budget, according to the FCC. That compares to 37 percent a decade ago.
