Calling Would-Be Conn. Broadcasters

State association is handing out scholarships for broadcasters-to-be

The Connecticut Broadcasters Association is making up to $100,000 available for college and college-bound students eager to entertain a career in the broadcasting arts.

Scholarships vary in sizes and duration, from $2,500 grants to the $5,000 Nelson Brown Scholarship. They are limited to Connecticut residents but can be used at out-of-state schools. Applicants may be graduating high schoolers or current college students. Schools can be four-year, two-year or technical schools.

Areas of study are variable and can be on-air, marketing, business or technical (calling all prospective engineers!). The uniting theme is future broadcast industry employment. Awards are made on the demonstration of talent and/or financial need. Application deadline is March 19.

Over the last six years the CBA has made available almost $250,000 in scholarship money.
