Canada Approves 15 More DAB Stations

The Canadian Radio-Television and Communications Commission has granted 15 Ottawa area DAB license applications. The selected stations will use the Eureka-147 technology. The licenses are good through Aug. 31, 2005. CRTC stated, “This license term should allow the commission sufficient time to establish and implement a long-term policy and licensing regime for digital radio undertakings following completion of an appropriate public process.” The new licensees join more than 50 other DAB stations.
