A small AM station in Bakersfield, Calif., is off the air after a car ran into its tower.
KLHC asked the Federal Communications Commission for special temporary authority to remain silent while a new tower is ordered and erected.
The station is licensed to Centro Cristiano Vida Abundante Inc., which acquired it in late 2013. Manuel Sanchez is president.
He told the FCC in the station’s request for STA that a car ran into the tower on Jan. 29. KLHC is a nondirectional with 1 kW daytime power.
