CBA Gathers on Oct. 18 in Hartford

Nutmeg ’casters annual meeting adds U.S. Senate debate

The Connecticut Broadcasters Association’s 57th annual convention is scheduled for this week, Thursday Oct. 18. at the Hartford Hilton.

A bonus for the convention is a scheduled debate between U.S. Senate candidates Rep. Chris Murphy and Linda McMahon. Current U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman will deliver a luncheon keynote address.

Sessions will cover radio and TV and there are a couple of sessions that should be at the top of the list for radio broadcasters. “Radio Landscape 2012” is sponsored by Arbitron and is described as an overview that “looks at how people are using radio and the emotional connection listeners have with their favorite radio stations. Learn how radio connects with listeners via Web, mobile and social platforms, creating interactivity and engagement for the advertiser.”

There will be a networking session for educational and noncommercial radio stations. Not surprisingly it will address items such as fundraising, staffing and regulatory along with newer challenges such as streaming.

Other crossover panels on the agenda (PDF) will examine broadcast sales, EAS, the future of broadcasting and the latest regulatory news.
