CBS Alpha Sale Is Complete in Portland

Larry Wilson powers up in the market

CBS has closed on that big sale of four radio stations in Portland, Ore.

The $40 million deal to Larry Wilson’s Alpha Broadcasting had been announced earlier and is now complete. The stations are KINK(FM), KUPL(FM), KUFO(FM) and KCMD(AM).

KINK is a AAA-formatted station. KUPL is country. KUFO is active/alternative rock, while KCMD is a talker. Dan Mason said in August when the deal was announced that it was CBS’s third deal over eight months for a total of 12 station sales.

“We’re another step closer to our goal of focusing primarily on the nation’s largest markets where we see the most long-term promise,” the CBS Radio head said then. “The marketplace for station sales is improving, so we expect to make further progress on that goal going forward.”

Alpha already owns news/talk KXL(AM) and KXTG(FM) in the market.
