Michael Martin has been named to the newly created position of senior vice president of programming and music initiatives for CBS Radio. He will continue to be based in San Francisco, where he serves as program director of KLLC(FM) and KMVQ(FM).
Martin will now be the division’s lead executive liaison with the music industry, collaborating with the format vice presidents and program directors.
Additionally, his responsibilities will include the development and integration of music content across CBS Radio’s live events and Radio.com digital platform. Chad Fitzsimmons, director of music initiatives will report to Martin.
Martin joined CBS Radio in 2009 following a career managing the operations and programming for a number of stations in Los Angeles and San Francisco, including serving as program director of KYSR(FM), KMEL(FM), KYLD(FM) and KIOI(FM). He began his career as music director for KIIS(FM) and would later be named senior vice president for Clear Channel’s West Coast programming operations, and operations manager of the Los Angeles cluster.
As a part of CBS Corp., the division owns and operates 126 radio stations in 27 markets and broadcasts play-by-play coverage of more than two dozen sports teams. CBS Radio distributes its programming via AM, FM and HD Radio stations, Radio.com and CBS Local Digital Media apps.
