CBS Radio is riding two of the hottest trends in radio these days — Spanish-language programming and sports programming. Working with WestwoodOne, CBS Radio is producing “Fierro,” a new 24-hour Spanish-language format. Thematically, it consists mostly of regional Mexican music, with a declared demo of 25–44 male.
Fierro means “iron” in Spanish.
The source of the programming is CBS Radio’s KMVK(FM) in Dallas. WestwoodOne will handle the syndication and sales side.
In other CBS Radio news, its New York sports outlet WFAN(AM/FM) announced a deal with Brooklyn Nets and the Barclays Centre arena to broadcast Nets games along with other sports events such as college and high school basketball and boxing plus special events such as concerts.
Many of the events will be broadcast nationally on CBS Radio outlets in other cities.
