CBS Radio Philadelphia Raises $800,000 in Radiothons

Funds raised for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, City Year and Eagles Youth Partnership

CBS Radio Philadelphia’s WOGL(FM) and WIP(AM) hosted radiothons that raised more than $881,000 for children in the Delaware Valley.

The 98.1 WOGL Loves Our Kids Radiothon raised $658,272, Sept. 5–6for the Children’s Miracle Network at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. In the past eleven years, 98.1 WOGL has raised $5,514,604 total for Children’s Hospital, which exclusively focuses on pediatric services. According to a release, funds raised through Children’s Miracle Network are earmarked at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for patient care programs and include support groups, creative arts therapies and social worker. These services are offered to every child who visits Children’s Hospital.

The 12th WIP EYP/City Year Eagles Radiothon raised $223,150 over the same two-day period. All donations were split equally between Eagles Youth Partnership and City Year Greater Philadelphia. According to a release, Eagles Youth Partnership’s mission is to ensure that all children in the region can see, read and play safely, regardless of their ZIP code. City Year is an education based nonprofit that focuses on helping students to graduate from high school.

“We get to see first-hand the impact our radio stations have on the community,” said Senior Vice President/Market Manager of CBS Radio-Philadelphia Marc Rayfield. “We are local business operators who feel it’s our duty to support fine organizations like CHOP and the Eagles Youth Partnership.”

The radiothons’ donations were taken by phone, online and in-person. 

The WOGL radiothon was broadcast live from the Ryan Seacrest Foundation’s “The Voice” studios in the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Colket Atrium, and the WIP EYP/City Year Eagles Radiothon aired from WIP’s studios.

WOGL and WIP are owned and operated by CBS Radio. WIP is a sports talk station.
