A radiothon on three CBS stations in Dallas raised $1 million for a local pediatric hospital.

The “Christmas Is for Children” Radiothon is an annual event. The money — $1,003,236.39, to be exact — goes to benefit programs at Children’s Health, a large health care system in North Texas

“In partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, CBS Radio DFW broadcast live from the hospital on 98.7 KLUV, La Grande 107.5 FM and NewsRadio 1080 KRLD,” the organization said. “This year, 22 patients and families shared their heartwarming stories via pre-recorded interviews or live appearances with on-air personalities from all three stations.” Morning host Jody Dean spent 26 hours on air.

In addition to listener support, a range oflocal sponsors included FairLease (presenting sponsor), Credit Union of Texas (phone line sponsor), Neighborhood Credit Union, Learning Care Group, Padrino Foods, Skanska, ReTrak, Dallas Fort Worth Acura Dealers, Primrose Schools, Granite Properties, Blue Cross Blue Shield, ADT Security and El Rio Grande Latin Market.

The announcement was made by Children’s Health President/CEO Christopher J. Durovich, Children’s Medical Center Foundation President Dr. Kern Wildenthal and CBS Radio DFW Senior VP/Market Manager Brian Purdy.
