CC Names Spengler Head of Content Marketing, Revenue Strategy

Also appoints two new VPs of Political Strategy

Clear Channel Media and Entertainment has named media executive Tim Spengler to the newly created position of president of content marketing and revenue strategy. He will be based in New York, reporting to Chairman and CEO John Hogan.

In this new role, Spengler will use CCME’s array of multiplatform assets to develop new and innovative media and advertising opportunities in unison with national programming platforms, national sales, marketing and partnership platform and local sales, a release said. Furthermore, he will build additional value for marketing partners by utilizing the company’s media and entertainment assets. In addition, he will focus on advertiser and industry trends to drive new ad products and deployment of revenue resources, the company said.

Spengler has been a senior executive for the Interpublic Group, a global advertising holding company, most recently as CEO of Magna Global, the strategic media investment and intelligence arm of IPG Mediabrands.

Prior to that, Spengler was president, North America, for Initiative, one of IPG’s three media networks.

The company has also added Will Leaverton and Brice Kornegay as vice presidents of political strategy. Leaverton and Kornegay will report to Nathan Daschle, executive vice president of political strategy in Washington.

In these new positions, Leaverton and Kornegay will develop and execute “Go To Market” strategies for various outlets in the political marketplace by utilizing local and national on air, digital, mobile, live event and outdoor assets, a release explained.

Established in June, the Political Strategy team focuses on working with political and issue advertisers and agencies to develop custom strategies, according to Clear Channel.

Leaverton joins Clear Channel from the Bill Thompson Mayoral campaign where as a field director he led a team that handled grassroots efforts and worked with key stakeholders, to organize events. Prior to this, he served as the deputy national GOTV director for Obama for America, a committee liaison for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and a number of democratic campaigns in multiple states.

Kornegay joins Clear Channel from BK Strategies LLC where he served as president since 2012, delivering survey research and general consulting to political candidates and independent expenditure operations. He used his political experience to consult with candidates on message testing and analysis, media strategy, demographic targeting, grassroots efforts and multiplatform campaign communications. Prior to this, Kornegay served as a political field director and polling director for the Republican Governors Association, Field Representative for the National Republican Congressional Committee and worked on a number of campaigns in Oklahoma.
