CCM+E Expands iHeartRadio Dashboard Footprint

At CES, company lists several automative integrations

The International CES convention opens tomorrow, and Clear Channel has announced several “automotive integrations” for iHeartRadio at the show. Its digital radio service will now be available as OEM gear in new Jaguar Land Rover, Volvo and Kia vehicles.

The company is emphasizing that the auto integrations use simple, “made-for-driving” features like big text and touch “targets,” intuitive menus and night-sensitive lighting.

This year, iHeartRadio will be available in Jaguar Land Rover vehicles that have Bosch SoftTec’s InControl Apps platform; in Volvo vehicles equipped with Sensus Connect; and in Kia vehicles with UVO.

The company also noted an expanding relationship with platform provider Bosch SoftTec “to extend iHeartRadio’s in-vehicle reach with support for cross-OEM platforms.” And it said it plans an auto-focused demo in partnership with QNX Software Systems, but didn’t give details.

The app is also available in certain Chrysler, Ford, GM, Lexus, Lincoln, Nissan and Toyota vehicles, plus “after-market” head units from Clarion, JVC, Kenwood and Pioneer.
