An independent audit confirms the stature of CES as “the world’s largest consumer technology tradeshow and North America’s largest annual tradeshow of any kind,” its organizers say.

That’s the quote from the Consumer Electronics Association, which holds CES annually. The organization says the 2007 show was the largest CES in terms of international attendance and square footage. More than 2,700 exhibitors showcased their products in 1.8 million net square feet of space.

Overall attendance totaled 143,695 with more than 27,000 international at the January show in Las Vegas, according to the audit conducted by Veris Consulting.

Veris also states the audit differentiates CES from other trade shows in that each attendee is tagged and counted only once and that CES only counts sold exhibit space to calculate show size. Other events count comp, barter and show usage space such as registration areas, according to CEA.
