The California Historical Radio Society has announced that it is very near its goal to raise enough money to buy its own building to house its museum and operations.
If you are new to the story, CHRS had a very cool, though cramped, facility at an old Art Deco radio facility, formerly KRE(AM) in Berkeley, Calif.. But a new owner wanted to sell the property (more than CHRS could afford).
The group has embarked on a major fundraising push to get enough money to buy a building in Alameda, Calif. The proposed facility is much larger. They have just topped $1 million with a generous donation of $200,000.The goal is $1.15 million by April 14.
