Claro Sports Covers Olympics With AEQ

Spanish-language sports broadcaster provided a full-out production of the games mobile audience

Claro Sports says they had a successful Olympic Games production coverage thanks to audio equipment from AEQ. The Spanish-language broadcaster provided commentary for the Olympic Broadcasting Service production of the Games.

According to AEQ, its Arena/BC2000D audio router served as the distributor for all the broadcaster’s commentary audio from the sport venues and various studios around the Olympic Park. For communicating between technical personnel in Rio and Mexico, an AEQ ConeXia intercom system with Dante was used on the BC2000D network. Communications for production personnel on location in Rio used ten Kroma TP8116 series intercom panels and a ConeXia Intercom system to route 42 intercom devices such as CCU’s, Belt-packs and dedicated IFB’s, the company added.

Audio was controlled and mixed with an AEQ Arena digital console, which had 15 motorized faders. The mixing console was linked to the main Audio Matrix and the ConeXia Intercom System with a multi-channel Dante AoIP network.

“Apart from our effort, the success of our operation has depended heavily on AEQ and its technological solution. The solution offered by AEQ has been excellent for this operation. The magnitude of our operation made us chose the solution from AEQ since they have a more than ample and proven experience in large events of this type,” said Eduardo Garcia, the Claro Sports production team leader during the Rio 2016 Games.
