Clear Channel shook things up a bit this week with two new upper level appointments. Tom Schurr is the new president of operations for major markets, and Matt Martin becomes president of operations for regional markets.
Both positions will report to John Hogan, chairman and CEO of Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, and are effective immediately.
Susan Karis, formerly executive vice president of operations for the Western region, is leaving the company.
Schurr was executive vice president of operations for Eastern region major markets. Beginning a three-decade career with Taft Broadcasting, Schurr worked through the Taft/Great American Broadcasting/Citicasters Communications/Jacor Communications mergers and transitions before joining Clear Channel. He has worked in numerous markets, including Buffalo, Dallas, Houston, Louisville, Milwaukee, Nashville and Sacramento.
Martin is a former senior vice president of operations for the West region. A release notes that he “worked his way through the ranks as a sales representative, sales manager, market manager and regional vice president of station clusters throughout Texas. Martin has also held the position as president and market manager for the San Antonio cluster and has been with Clear Channel since 1995.”
The announcement also notes that “The recent realignment also included the promotion of Tom McConnell as an executive vice president of operations for the major markets.” He was previously senior vice president of operations for the Northeast Regional Markets.
