Clear Channel Chooses Nonprofit Partner for Campaign

DonorsChoose.org is an education charity benefiting local school

Clear Channel is teaming up with nonprofit DonorsChoose.org as its first-quarter partner to raise money to fund local teachers’ classroom projects.

The media company also has introduced the name “Clear Channel Communities” as the community engagement brand of CC Media Holdings Inc. According to a release, its goal is to use local radio and outdoor resources to engage listeners in making a difference to the people in their communities.

Clear Channel Communities plans to spotlight a national non-profit each quarter of the year. A radio campaign, called “Tools for Classrooms,” will air on 850 radio stations and reach approximately 238 million U.S. listeners, the company said. Its goal is to raise money while bringing “attention to the lack of educational resources in classrooms across the country.” The partnership includes Chase bank, which has pledged to match individual listener donations up to $50, with a total donation cap of $250,000.

The campaign will feature radio spots from celebrities and musicians including Ryan Seacrest, J.R. Martinez, Pitbull, LMFAO and Gym Class Heroes.
