Clear Channel Claims High Response to Ratings RFP

Clear Channel Radio says more than two dozen companies have responded so far to its Request for Proposals for an electronic audience measurement service.
The company issued the RFP in June, saying radio needs a ratings service that is more accurate and enables information to be delivered to stations faster than a system of paper diaries. By contrast, preliminary television ratings are available overnight.
“We are surrounded by examples of companies fielding sophisticated technology to consumers in a short amount of time. And we are also surrounded by ratings systems that deliver overnight results to other mediums,” states Clear Channel Radio CEO John Hogan.
Proposals are due Dec. 15. The company intends to keep the responses confidential until it has selected finalists.
Radio companies, ad agencies and media buyers will review the responses, according to Clear Channel.
