Clear Channel Communities ‘Stuff the Bus’ in Austin

Derrick Martin named market manager for Clear Channel Norfolk

Clear Channel Communities, KASE(FM) and KVET(FM) will host a “Stuff the Bus” school supplies drive to benefit Austin Independent School District students.

Listeners shopping for back-to-school items on Texas Tax Free weekend (August 10–11) were encouraged to donate at least one item for a student in need. The drive aims to fill multiple school buses with school supplies that will be distributed during the organization’s “Back-To-School Bash” August 24.

KASE 101 and 98.1 KVET were on-site at Brodie Lane in front of the Academy and World Market on Saturday and Sunday. Donors were able to win items from various Sunset Valley Merchants throughout the weekend. The event was sponsored by The Austin Board of Realtors and the City of Sunset Valley.

In other news from Clear Channel operations, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Norfolk announced that Derrick Martin has been tapped for market manager. The cluster includes WKSA(FM), WMOV(FM), WOWI(FM) and WVMA(FM).

Recently serving as General Sales Manager of Clear Channel St. Louis, Martin will oversee all station activities and events to help drive sales and achieve revenue targets effective August 12. He will be responsible for the market’s operations, including strategies, programming and sales initiatives.

Martin has spent the past 17 years in the radio industry, beginning in 1996 as an account executive at Clear Channel Memphis’ KJMS(FM)/KWAM(AM). He later went on to serve as the Retail Sales Manager for Clear Channel Detroit’s WJLB(FM) and WMXD(FM), as well as Clear Channel Chicago’s WGCI(FM). In 2006, Martin joined Radio One Atlanta as the interactive general sales manager.
