Clear Channel Exceeds Its Sales Hires’ Goal

In support of its new organizational structure that was announced in August, Clear Channel has hired 600 new sales personnel. The company had previously stated its commitment to hire at least 500 new account executives by Oct.1.

The new structure, which includes multiple regions within eight geographic divisions, was crafted “to super-serve” its advertising customers by packaging radio stations, market clusters and geographic regions along the same lines as advertisers’ trade areas.

With a national footprint that allows the company to provide advertisers with “one-stop shopping” opportunities, Clear Channel Radio President and COO John Hogan said that its radio, TV, outdoor and interactive venues give its “sales executives a powerful package to help their advertising customers reach their trading areas … both across markets and across advertising media. It’s a fundamental change to the way radio has been sold for decades.”

Hogan said that the response to Clear Channel Radio’s late summer call for sales talent has been tremendous.

“We received thousands of calls, resumes, and inquiries,” Hogan said. “Word is obviously out that Clear Channel is a great place to build a career.”
