Clear Channel Furthers Spanish Format Initiative With KWID Flip in Vegas

Clear Channel Radio debuted a Spanish-language format, “La Preciosa,” for KWID(FM) in Las Vegas. The format is the fourth station flip in the company’s recent Spanish-language programming initiative. ‘La Preciosa’ offers a diverse catalog of regional Mexican hits, appealing to the Las Vegas adult 25-54 listeners. Original recorded music will be featured from artists such as Los Bukis, Vicente Fernandez, Los Freddy’s and Juan Gabriel.
“With three hip-hop stations in Las Vegas, it is time to make a change. Las Vegas is one of the fastest growing Hispanic markets in the nation, so bringing ‘La Preciosa’ to Las Vegas was a natural choice,” said Clear Channel’s market manager for the city.
Clear Channel Radio’s Spanish-language programming initiative was introduced in Sept, and is led by Senior Vice President of Hispanic Radio Alfredo Alfonso. The company says it hopes to expand the choice and availability of Spanish programming, complimenting existing Spanish stations in markets that currently offer Hispanic radio while introducing unconventional programming in markets that do not. The initiative will result in the debut of Spanish format on Clear Channel Radio stations in an additional 20-25 markets.
