Clear Channel Helps Two Charities

Broadcaster aids Musicians on Call and UNCF efforts.

Clear Channel has announced two new network-wide campaigns working with charities the United Negro College Fund and Musicians on Call, a nonprofit group delivering live and recorded music to health care facility patients.

The efforts involve two campaigns. For the UNCF, a series of Clear Channel-created 15- and 30-second spots will be aired on all CC stations. Clear Channel said its Web operation has designed a Web network for its stations to provide info and funnel donations. A 30-minute show centering on the UNCF is to be created and aired on Jan. 29–30. Additionally, Clear Channel stations will air a radio feed of the annual “UNCF An Evening of Stars” TV show.

The MOC initiative will involve creation and production of celebrity PSA promoting the nonprofit. The group has arranged for musical performances for some 250,000 people in its Bedside Performance Program.

Clear Channel Radio Senior Vice President of Programming Clay Hunnicutt made the announcement: “Helping those in need, whether they are sick or in need of support for higher education, is an admirable cause.”
