Steve Geofferies
Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Phoenix has tapped Steve Geofferies for its new vice president of programming. He will oversee the operations for KNIX(FM), KESZ(FM), KYOT(FM), KMXP(FM), KZZP(FM), KFYI(AM), KGME(AM) and KOY(AM).
Geofferies has been with the company for over 12 years. He has served as regional programming manager for the Charlotte and Raleigh, N.C. markets and has programmed country format stations like KSD(FM) in St. Louis; WSSL(FM) and WESC(FM) in Greenville, S.C.; and WKKT(FM) in the Charlotte, N.C. market. He also helped the Charlotte cluster win the country, Top 40 and adult contemporary formats.
Clear Channel has also joined forces with Stardome Radio Networks to add “The Carmen Jara Show” to the morning programming for its Spanish-language programming stations: KTZR(AM), Tucson, Ariz.; KBFP(FM), Bakersfield, Calif.; KFSO(FM), Fresno, Calif.; KPRC(FM), Salinas, Monterey and Santa Cruz, Calif.; KIZS(FM), Tulsa, Okla.; and KUNO(AM) in Corpus Christi, Texas.
The show is described by Clear Channel as “a perfect blend of star power meets comedy” led by the Mexican regional icon, Carmen Jara. It will feature personalities, parodies, comedic routines, music, news and sports.
“Having a superstar like Carmen Jara gives Clear Channel Media and Entertainment a great opportunity to leverage her popularity in these key Spanish markets,” said Jim Lawson, vice president of Hispanic programming.
