Cluster Offers Free Advertising in Post-Katrina Effort

Triad Broadcasting said its subsidiary Mississippi Media Broadcasting in Biloxi/Gulfport is donating $1 million worth of free radio advertising to businesses hit by Katrina in the area.
“The Rebuilding Assistance Marketing Program … launches today in cooperation with local Gulf Coast Chambers of Commerce,” the station said in an announcement. Chamber and economic development officials will coordinate the review process to determine which Chamber businesses are eligible.
The goal “is to help local businesses get the word out that they’re back and open for business.” The six-station cluster includes WXRG, WCPR, WXYK, WUJM, WXBD and WTNI. The Traffic One reporting service is also in the program.
The program is to begin advertising local businesses by early November. “Spots will run 24 hours a day Monday through Sunday,” it stated. “Each :60 commercial will feature two local businesses and include a message from the local Chambers. Mississippi Media will handle creative copy, scheduling and follow-up.”
All but one of the cluster’s six stations are back on the air.
