College Radio iPhone Tuner Available

Backbone Networks, a Web radio service provider, has developed the College Radio Tuner for use with the Apple iPhone and the iPod Touch.

The College Radio Tuner is an application for streaming college-based radio stations. It works in coordination with Backbone Networks and its partner, the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System/IBS Student Radio Network.

The app is available for free from the Apple Store. It is a RTP-based client utilizing MPEG-4 AAC. IBS maintains the constantly updated station database. The player can provide information and art for currently playing stations, songs and provide a purchase link for the iTunes store.

IBS Launches Internet Radio Network

The Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) has launched an Internet radio network aimed at student broadcasters. Working with supplier Backbone Networks Corp., a proof-of-concept pilot project involving 25 schools starts this month.
