The FCC has extended the public comment period for its rule making on the definition of a radio market outside of Arbitron metros.
NAB and Saga Communications had asked for more time, saying they are studying the issue and need more time for a task force to act.
The FCC granted a short extension of 30 days, stating it recognizes that adopting a permanent definition for radio markets that Arbitron does not measure “will provide parties with long-term certainty as to the radio market definition and allow them to plan accordingly.”
The new comment deadline is Oct. 6.
