Comments Due This Month on New FCC Regulatory Fees

The increases could vary depending on whether agency institutes new allocation formula

Comments are due this month on the FCC’s annual regulatory fees.

The commission has proposed changing how it assesses and collects fees to account for changes in the communications industry as well as its own staff changes over the years.

Depending on whether the agency keeps the current process in place for 2013 or changes how it determines the fees, radio stations could see either a modest increase or a large one over 2012.

Federal Register publication has triggered the public comment deadlines.

Submit comments to MD Docket 13-140 by June 19 and replies by June 26.
