Comrex Likes the Feel of Q1

Also reports several large orders for IP codecs

Comrex reported several large orders of IP codecs, adding that its first quarter sales “have been robust in spite of cautious consumer spending in the face of global economic recovery.”

Projects include an IP codec multipoint project for Netherland’s National Broadcast Organization, and sales to CBS Radio in New York, the Michigan Radio Network, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, Astral Media Radio Quebec, Malar Global Media in Dubai, Nile Radio in Egypt and Bio Bio Comunicaciones in Chile.

Comrex also provided digital telephone hybrids for a “significant” contract to ABS-CBN in the Philippines.

Director of Sales & Marketing Chris Crump said the company is “seeing a return to capital equipment purchases by our existing customers” as well as more interest from new clients.

Access codecs also were used to cover the Winter Olympics in Vancouver and the Super Bowl in Miami as well as on site at news events including earthquakes in Haiti and Chile.
