Congress May Yet Act On LPFM

Action was expected last week on LPFM legislation in the Senate and that may yet happen this week.
The Senate Appropriations Committee might attach Sen. Rod Grams’ LPFM legislation to a larger spending bill this week. The bill, S-3020, would allow a new class of LPFMs to be created, but only with full channel protections retained. The measure also calls for testing for possible interference to stations on 3rd-adjacent channels and a station carrying a radio reading service.
