Michael Cooney is now vice president and chief technology officer for Beasley Broadcast Group.

He replaces Bob DuMuth, who had been with the broadcaster for over 10 years.

Cooney will supervise and oversee engineering and technology matters for Beasley’s portfolio, and the company said he will be integral to its HD Radio activities. An SBE-certified engineer, Cooney also holds his FCC First Class license and is a certified electronic technician.

He comes to Beasley from Entercom’s Kansas City cluster, where he served as DOE/IT for eight years. Prior to that, Cooney served five years as manager and assistant vice president of engineering for Video Masters (sold in 1997 to AVI Systems.)

Cooney’s previous broadcast experience includes stints as corporate chief engineer for Radio One and as assistant chief engineer for South Dakota Public Broadcasting.

He will be based in the corporate office in Naples, Fla. and report directly to company President/COO Bruce Beasley.
