Some people here at the CES were talking about a Wall Street Journal article that raised the specter of music pirating via digital radio receivers. The Journal said next year some receivers will have recording functions, and quoted an RIAA spokesman briefly on the problem of digital copying.
Ibiquity President/CEO Robert Struble told Radio World that while the issues raised by the RIAA are valid, “We’ll wait for the industry to decide how to protect the transmitted information.”
He said if songs need to be protected with some sort of encryption system, that can be built into Ibiquity’s Perceptual Audio Encoder technology.
