The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has devoted a $1.4 million grant toward the creation of a new, multimedia local journalism center that will focus on energy issues, according to a recent announcement.
The seven public television and radio stations collaborating on the Energy LJC include Rocky Mountain PBS/KUVO(FM), which will serve as the lead station, along with KUNC(FM), Colorado Public Television, Wyoming Public Media, Wyoming PBS and Prairie Public Broadcasting. Using a data-centered approach, the LJC will explore opportunities and consequences of energy policy, production, use and innovation.
Other CPB-funded local journalism centers include “EarthFix,” based in the Northwest, “Fronteras” in the Southwest, “Harvest” in the Midwest, “Innovation Trail” in Upstate New York, and the “Southern Education Desk” in (as you might guess) the South.
