CRA Adds Chairman, Brand Campaign

“Radio — It’s a Love Thing” for Australian broadcasters

Commercial Radio Australia recently appointed a new board of directors and elected a new chairman.

Adam Lang, managing director of Fairfax Radio Network, was elected chairman of CRA, replacing outgoing head Rhys Holleran, CEO of Southern Cross Austereo, who completed his second term from 2012–2013 and who remains on the Board. CRA CEO Joan Warner thanked Holleran for his support and commitment to the industry body.

At the annual National Radio Conference in Melbourne, the country’s commercial radio industry also launched a US$22 million industry-wide radio brand campaign “Radio — It’s a Love Thing.”

The theme is underscored by a song co-written by Eardrum and Australian band No Pictures and is supported by comprehensive multi-phased research that investigated the correlation between radio and happiness levels, openness to advertising and search and purchase behavior, according to market research agency, Colmar Brunton.
