Crawford Hires Two in Midwest

Sewell heads to Chicago and Kerkan will lead engineering in Detroit

Rick Sewell has joined Crawford Broadcasting — Chicago as engineering manager of that cluster, and Brian Kerkan has been named chief engineer for Crawford Broadcasting — Detroit.

Sewell was a long-time employee of Crawford Broadcasting — St. Louis where he worked in production, operations and then managed KJSL(AM) for several years before making the move to this newly created engineering position.

Art Reis has moved to contract status for the time being, aiding during the transition period.

Brian Kerkan

Sewell left Crawford Broadcasting in 2010 to work as CE of Clear Channel’s St. Louis cluster.

Kerkan most recently served as corporate director of engineering since 2010 for Saga Communications. Prior to that, he worked for Citadel and Max Radio of the Carolinas. He replaces Aaron McEachern, who left Crawford Broadcasting — Detroit in March to work for Townsquare’s Flint, Mich., cluster.
