Crawford Retires from WAWZ

Taylor will serve as his replacement

The Pillar of Fire Central Board of Trustees saluted Rev. S. Rea Crawford as he retires from his 40-year tenure as general manager of WAWZ(FM).

Crawford supervised a format transition in 2003, the completion of a new tower facility in 2004 and the relocation of its studios and offices last year after the destruction of Hurricane Irene. Radio World profiled Crawford in “Rea Crawford Hits a Milestone.”

Northeast radio vet Scott Taylor has been named as Crawford’s replacement. Taylor has been involved in radio in the New York area since 1979, and in 1994, he joined WAWZ as host of the Morning Show. He was promoted to program director in February, 2000, then became station manager in September 2003. Taylor currently serves on the executive board of the New Jersey Broadcasters Association.
