Crown Broadcast/IREC signed a deal with AIRSIS to distribute the latter company’s transmitter/translator product line.
Crown will sell the AIRSIS products through domestic and international dealer channels.
The first product will be the Translator Monitor 2000, coming in August. This is a product and service that allows broadcast engineers to monitor and control a Crown transmitter/translator network “24 x 7 via satellite and the Internet, from anywhere at anytime.”
The companies said the system monitors and sends alerts based on customer-defined parameters and receives diagnostic and operational commands such as turning transmitter on/off, in a 1RU rackmountable device. Communication to the user is via the Internet or any land-based or cellular connection for alert situations.
The system doesn’t need telephone connections, satellite dishes, Web interface modules or a PC inside the tower.
A monthly Web service takes sensor signals from the system and delivers operational data, reports and alerts via the Web to station staff.
The retail price for Translator Monitor 2000 is $2,845. The AIRSIS Vision service monthly fee is $60 per unit, available on a one-year contract and a one-time activation charge of $50 per unit.
