The Committee for the Study of the American Electorate backtracked and apologized for releasing inaccurate data in a study of TV election coverage. After NAB challenged the report, CSAE recalculated the data and found that the report fell below its standards and CSAE “is deeply ashamed” and apologized for publishing a “flawed study”. CSAE found its earlier statement that only one TV station in each state studied carried statewide debates was inaccurate.
