CTU to Amend Laws for Digital Radio

Czech digital radio should move forward in 2014

Český telekomunikační úřad, the Czech Telecommunications Office, recently discussed comments received as part of a public consultation on the draft rules to award frequencies for digital radio in the band 174−230 MHz.

The comments were submitted by six entities, and upon reviewing these, the CTU determined the current applicable legislation will not meet the needs of the future digital broadcast platform, according to Telecompaper .

The CTU hopes to begin the process of contracting for a national multiplex in the first quarter of 2014, but first the legislation must be amended to reflect new requirements.

The regulator has scheduled a workshop to draft new rules for data operation management. Participants will include providers, data network operators and experts from the public sector.
