Cumulus Chooses New Programmers, Brand Managers

Changes coming in Minnesota, Rhode Island and Louisiana

Cumulus Media has upped Derek Madden to program director KXXR(FM) in Minneapolis. He will also continue his role as Cumulus corporate programmer for rock and alternative formats. Madden joined 93X in March 2015. Prior to that, he was PD of KLOS(FM) for Cumulus Los Angeles.

Cumulus Media has promoted Heather Gersten to assistant program director for WWLI(FM) in Providence, R.I. Gersten will continue as co-host of “Heather & Steve,” a position she has held for the past 14 years. She is also part of Lite Rock’s “2 Lite Chicks” with midday personality Amy Pontes. She and Pontes also co-host the “Wicked Awesome 80’s Show” Saturday at 8 p.m.

Previously, Gersten spent three years on-air in Boston, after serving as Danny Bonaduce’s morning show sidekick in New York City. She was also a news and traffic reporter in the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut area.

Cumulus has signed Bobby Novosad as brand manager and morning show host for KSMB(FM) in Lafayette, La. His “Bobby Novosad in the Morning” airs weekdays from 6–10 a.m. He joined the station in November 1984.
