Clear Channel Radio and Cumulus Media are combining efforts in a deal they say will extend the digital reach for both broadcasters and offer listeners a more comprehensive experience.
Clear Channel CEO Bob Pittman stated, “Radio connects local businesses to consumers like no other medium can, and we’re looking forward to helping our listeners find even more great deals right in their own backyards with SweetJack.”
Under the agreement, the 570 Cumulus stations will be available on Clear Channel’s iHeartRadio online platform. Cumulus will continue to stream its stations on its own station websites and mobile apps, and the iHeartRadio platform will serve as the sole digital aggregator for Cumulus stations, which will cross-promote iHeartRadio on-air and feature a link to iHeartRadio on their websites.
Clear Channel’s 850 stations will use Cumulus’ SweetJack daily deals system. Cumulus says its SweetJack platform has more than one million members. We’ve reported Cumulus plans a significant expansion of the SweetJack markets in 2012.
“This agreement with Clear Channel enables us to scale SweetJack into a true nationwide platform which we believe is essential to competing successfully in this rapidly growing space,” said Cumulus Media CEO Lew Dickey.
