Cumulus Expands Programming Division

Broadcaster names four corporate Program Directors

Randall Bloomquist

Cumulus Media announced a series of programming appointments to support its national content efforts.

Randall Bloomquist has been named corporate program director for news/talk.

He succeeds Minneapolis-based Jim Mahanay, who’ll now focus on programming at the company’s sports stations.

Derek Madden and Scott Jameson are each promoted to corporate program director for rock, in addition to their local programming responsibilities. Madden is in Los Angeles and Jameson is in Minneapolis.

Cumulus EVP/co-COO John Dickey said the company’s success depends on executing effectively across programming at the local and national levels, which is why he’s pleased about the new appointments “that will help Cumulus continue building on our commitment to the very best content.”

Bloomquist mostly recently operated Bloomquist Media, a marketing communications and content creation firm. Prior to starting his own business, Bloomquist was program director of WGST(AM) News/Talk 640 in Atlanta. His radio career also includes programming management positions in Washington, Charlotte, N.C. and Richmond, Va.

Madden is currently the operations manager/program director and midday host at KLOS(FM,) Los Angeles. His previous programming experience includes stints in San Francisco, San Jose, Lexington, Ky., Augusta, Ga. and Ithaca, N.Y.

Jameson is operations manager/program director for Cumulus sports FMs in Minneapolis. Before joining Cumulus, Jameson held the position of VP/Programming for CBS Radio’s adult rock stations and executive producer for the Atlanta Falcons Radio Network.
