Cumulus Plans Riverwalk Complex in Shreveport

Remember when radio stations were usually found in storefronts? Here’s the modern version.
Cumulus Media plans a new five-station radio cluster complex at a riverfront entertainment district in Shreveport, La. Construction starts in the next few days and will take about a year.
Four existing stations plus a new one will be located at the Louisiana Riverwalk, according to a story in the Shreveport Times and confirmed for Radio World by Cumulus engineering executive Gary Kline.
“The whole concept will be like doing a live remote 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” the newspaper quotes developer John Good saying about the 10,000-square-foot radio center. One station official called the Riverwalk complex “the biggest pedestrian area in town.”
Louisiana Riverwalk is promoted by its developers as an entertainment and retail “destination” on a 50-acre site along the Red River in Bossier City, La. The Bossier City/Shreveport area is a popular gaming destination, and there are casinos near the site.
The stations include KMJJ(FM), KRMD(AM), KBED(FM) and KRMD(FM).
