DAB+ Receiver Sales Rise in Switzerland

Approximately 1.9 million digital radios are in use in Swiss homes, cars

About 382,000 DAB+ radios were sold in Switzerland last year, according to Marketing and Consulting for Digital Broadcasting Technologies (MCDT). At the end of 2014, there were 1.9 million digital radios in use in Swiss households and vehicles.

In 2006 there were just 15,000 digital radios in the market, and digital car radio was still a long way into the future. By the end of 2014, however, there were a quarter of a million vehicles fitted with DAB+ radios on Swiss roads, it said.

Listeners now have a choice of up to 61 DAB+ stations, depending upon their region. The report also pointed out that reception has also improved; now 99 percent of the population is able to listen to DAB+.
