DAS Goes Multichannel

MultiPlayer offers four additional channels instead of one

EAS/CAP system specialist Digital Alert Systems is rolling out the MultiPlayer, a four-EAS message playout-channel device. Previously, EAS devices have been limited to one-channel-at-a-time performance, even in environments wherein one unit serves several channels.

The MultiPlayer works with DAS’ DASDEC units. It carries four audio players onboard. Each of those players is independently controllable via GPI or an IP network. Each also can be programmed to play audio files or switch outputs.

Added to the DASDEC’s playout stream, a total of five independent EAS/CAP channels can be deployed at one time.

Digital Alert Systems Business Manager Bill Robinson said: “Single-playhead models can add unwanted delay in delivering audio alerts across multiple stations, even causing emergency messaging to step on programming or advertising… The MultiPlayer gives broadcasters an appealing alternative. Each MultiPlayer stream offers a unique station identification with no delays, no restrictions, and no programming, and it can actually cost the broadcaster less per stream than other less elegant solutions.”
