German broadcast software developer D.A.V.I.D. has joined the Silex Media group.

Silex Media, headquartered in Grasbrunn, Germany, acquired all D.A.V.I.D. shares. The two organizations will continue to operate in parallel.

Silex Media offers IT-based solutions, systems integration and workflow products for broadcasters and media companies wanting to move from tape-based environments to digital workflows or from radio and television to Internet and telecommunications operations.

The two companies had already worked together on several projects for German public-service broadcasters, including an integrated radio and television production environment for Saarländischer Rundfunk (SR) and an archive management system for Südwestrundfunk (SWR). Joint customers also include Austrian public-service broadcaster Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF).

Silex Media is a consolidated subsidiary of SGI Japan, whose shareholders include NEC, SGI, Sony and Canon Marketing.
