Dielectric Acquires Brookstone Telecom

For the second time in a week, a company familiar to radio stations is expanding its reach into the wireless market. Antenna and tower manufacturer Dielectric Communications has acquired Brookstone Telecom of Temecula, Calif., which provides construction and maintenance services to the telecommunications industry. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The company said Brookstone’s strength is in the development, construction and service of site infrastructure, primarily in wireless telecom. Dielectric, a unit of SPX Corp., is based in Maine. It employs 700 people and has annual sales of about $200 million.
Brookstone has about 225 employees and sales of “over $40 million,” according to a Dielectric spokeswoman. A few days earlier, in an unrelated deal involving the wireless infrastructure industry, Andrew Corp. signed a $500 million deal to acquire Allen Telecom Inc.
