Digidesign is shipping version 7.4 of its Pro Tools software, and touting new features such as improved Avid interoperability and an Elastic Time music composition and production tool.
Elastic Time allows users to change the tempo and timing of loops, music, dialogue and other sound files in real time without cutting up audio tracks. Users can audition or import loops and audio files that sync with a session’s tempo. The Elastic Time feature also can be used to quantize audio to the session grid or extracted grooves, and fine-tine regions with control over each beat.
The company says it is hosting a series of educational seminars in conjunction with the launch of Pro Tools 7.4 that highlight the new features and music composition tools.
The “Stretch Your Sound” tour is offered through Pro Tools dealers in 25 cities and covers the benefits of Elastic Time, as well as how to work with the virtual instruments from Digidesign’s Advanced Instrument Research group.
