Digigram has developed a variant of its EtherSound technology for public address and background music applications.
Dubbed ES-100/spkr, the solution provides manufacturers with a cost-effective way of implementing EtherSound control and management functionalities in new devices that do not require comprehensive ES-100 or ES-Giga systems. ES-100/spkr, however, remains compatible with both ES-100 and ES-Giga networks.
The new Digigram implementation fits into simple microcontrollers or DSP devices and is designed for use in networks with only unidirectional streams and audio-out devices such as the loudspeakers found in public address networks and monitoring-only systems.
Barix is partnering with Digigram in the launch of the ES-100/spkr and will implement the new technology in its Exstreamer IP audio decoder and OEM modules.
According to Johannes G. Rietschel, Barix chief executive and founder, the combination of low-cost Barix network decoders and the EtherSound technology is “ideal” for many applications.
