Show planners have released details of the technical content at this fall’s NAB Radio Show.
According to the NAB Radio TechCheck newsletter, the Radio Show Engineering Program includes presentations on advances in radio technology, operating under emergency conditions, IP audio, computerized antenna modeling and preventing tower failures.
Likely to be a headliner is a two-hour discussion about IBOC power. Moderated by Milford Smith of Greater Media, it includes Geoff Mendenhall of Harris, Tim Bealor of Broadcast Electronics, Mike Starling of NPR/NPR Labs and Mike Troje of Continental.
Also among those presenting, Clear Channel Radio engineering exec Steve Davis will discuss “Operating Under Emergency Conditions.” The team working on a radio Electronic Program Guide will present results of lab and field tests. Ron Rackley and Ben Dawson will speak about measurements and math for the new AM proof rules; David Maxson will discuss measurements under the new NRSC IBOC mask; Scott Fybush will talk about radio facilities he’s visited.
Manufacturers with presentations in the engineering program include Dave Davies of ERI, Kirk Harnack of Telos-Omnia-Axia and Jim Roberts of Broadcast Electronics.
