Digital Radio Expands in France

Some 62 stations are today broadcasting via DAB+

Digital terrestrial radio officially launched in the French cities of Paris, Nice and Marseille on June 20.

Today some 62 radio stations in the country are broadcasting via DAB+, including some stations not available on FM, says La Lettre Pro. Other radio stations are expected to begin broadcasting in DAB in the coming weeks.

In the fall, the Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel, France’s media regulator, is expected to issue a report, which will provide guidance for the future of digital radio. The CSA’s work on digital radio falls within a broader context of its activities to promote the development and modernization of radio.
